BIOK LAB supports women's empowerment: growth begins with self-confidence

"People around me have long been seeing me in the position of CEO, but I still have doubts." Such thoughts were expressed at the closing event of the LYDERĖ association's group mentoring program, where women spoke openly about career choices, leadership, and inner doubts.
This personal growth program was created and led by three proactive members of the LYDERĖ association who came together specifically for this project. The "members for members" format of the program is based on a simple but very effective idea: the greatest value is created through the exchange of knowledge, experience, and insights.
Despite their different professional paths and experiences, all program participants are united by a common goal – the desire to grow.
BIOK LAB supports the theme of women's empowerment because the company is particularly close to women, both among its employees and among its product users. Romualda Stragienė, the company's business development manager, also participated in the new LYDERĖ program and shared her insights.
"On our own, we tend to be more anxious, less confident, and more critical of ourselves. When we come together, we open ourselves up to a new perspective – we see that others face similar doubts. Mutual support helps us grow faster, and this works well for both genders – it is important to notice and take advantage of new opportunities in a timely manner," says R. Stragienė.
The 2025 EIGE Gender Equality Index gave Lithuania a score of 60.9 out of a possible 100, which means it ranks 14th in the European Union. Although Lithuanian women are educated and actively participate in the labor market, there are still too few of them at the highest levels of management – in the parliament, ministries, or on the boards of large companies.
One reason for this may be that women often feel they need to be 120 percent ready when taking the next step in their careers.
Initiatives such as the LYDERĖ mentoring program help to change this reality by boosting self-confidence, encouraging the sharing of experience, and creating a community in which it is easier to grow.
